Re: AT&T's Investment in ANTC

Toby,
But little known fact. AT&T owns 20% plus of ANTC. It's quite substantial and has to motivate T to lean towards ANTC for it's products specially designed for upgrading TCI's quite old cable plant. Here's a link for more details. It's quite an interesting relationship:

And for further fun reading about ANTC's critical cable telephony products and AT&T cable plant see:

And for really fun reading, I did a post on the Last Mile that clearly explains the relationship between, AT&T/TCI/Nortel/Antec/Arris/Cornerstone(Yes NT has a large interest in ANTC too). Whoops. Sorry. I can't find it now. It's too bad because it took a lot of research to uncover it all.

Bottom line is, Malone used to jerk ANTC around. So it doesn't surprise me that Armstrong might be doing the same. That's the problem with a 50% plus customer! Hopefully ANTC is able to diversify as other cablecos upgrade to HFC. And hopefully the volume of business AT&T is giving ANTC, more than makes up for their pricing pressure.
