Folks, I do NOT put much stock in Mr. Smith's opinion in this particular article. He really has not justified his "next Cisco" statement. Definitely an attention getting headline which could have read "please read this".

This article will feed the momo's, I am afraid.

NTAP's technology is going to be hard to beat by its competitors, but NTAP must continue to innovate and increase the strength of its value chain to fend off the interlopers. Comparing NTAP's position to a younger CSCO is not accurate however. CSCO became a part of the backbone which caused customers to implement CSCO throughout its networks. There is no such advantage in implementing NTAP throughout a corporate IT infrastructure--yet. As new software which deliver new backup/restore, soft failover capabilities is delivered, this could change.
