John, I'll believe Microsoft "fixes" when pigs fly, or when INTEL comes to my cabin and personally replaces the bios chips in all my hardware free of charge.

You ARE keeping up with their Sue & Labor activities filed 11th hour aren't you.

A fascinating true story of utilizing mr softy's LATEST WEBSITE encouraged repairs for Win 95, 98 and NT on SI-'s "Y2K Issues" thread is a heart breaker and might even daunt you my dear Canadian cyberfriend.

BTW, did you catch the new Sue and Labor lawsuit announcement today (actual filing date Nov 16) by the Port of Seattle over Y2k and 232 tits up systems????

OT: BTW, I had a golden "cookie moment" yesterday: I have rolled back the calendar on my laptop and encountered the following true experience.

I was trying to surf iQVC a shopping channel for a new teflon skillet for a Christmas gift. Most of the damn snoopin' cookies were deflected by hitting the cancel button, but I did get ONE interesting one:

THAT pop-up cookie "permission to set" window pointed out that it couldn't even ask me to permit a cookie because my calendar said xyz date in history, which PRE-DATED the "birth of the cookie" in programmer language.

Needless to say I refused, and was promptly booted out of that section of iQVC. Pissed off some advertiser who just cost iQVC a sale.

New wrinkle now, eh? Bet I just got another Java Programmer fired<g>

<<By that, I mean, doesn't the PB usually track with the CRB index?>>

Not in many cases, seems to be a rather great disconect.
