Colleen, thank you for the explanation. That sounds about like what I read years ago. My calendar shows it to be 12/27 in Canada this year, but that may be flexible because the 26th is on a Sunday.

I am a bit surprised that Brian no longer participates in the "X-mass" thing. I know(I think we all know) that Jesus was not born on December 25, and that the choosing of that date as a celebration was tied to the pagan day of Saturnalia, and the winter solstice but, even feeling as I do, I see no harm in setting one day apart to give special thanks for His birth, regardless of the exact day. Actually, I rejoice in His birth almost every day of the year. The only negatives I see are that the day is used by the merchants as a sales opportunity to reduce inventories, that the emphasis has shifted to economics rather than Faith, and that too many people use it as a time of strict ritual with no consideration given to the birth of Christ. Also, the emphasis should be on the children, and not on the ability to spend vast amounts of money for gifts. It has become almost like the Chinook potlatch celebration.

I hope your 24 hour bug has been squashed.
