Quite honestly, Edwarda, despite what I'm sure are your good and kind intentions, I don't believe any "intervention" has been or is necessary at DAR. DAR has never needed moderating, as the people here have great respect for each other, are basically very kind, and are capable of taking care of their own conflicts. As they should, being adults.

I know we have a different view of these things, but I see intervention as an assumption of someone else's believing they know better than I how to behave, or that they have a clearer understanding of other people and truth than I. Personally I trust my own perceptions more than anyone else's and don't want or need intervention. I think we all feel that way.

No one is throwing things, much less killing each other here. I do not believe that a comment on another thread's tone is an invitation at all for anyone to come insult us. There have been absolutely no personal attacks on anyone in the past few days, maybe longer- certainly since the thread has been left alone. Frankly, the implication that we were in need of correction yesterday is a little off-putting!

I respect this thread and its posters enough to believe they are fully capable of deciding how to behave without you or me or anyone else standing in judgment on their words or behavior.

Edit: If we need to talk more about this, let's do it by PM, ok?

Speaking of the the Indian and his squaw, I played a trick on N tonight that will give you a laugh.

N and I went out to dinner. Near us was seated, alone at his table, a rather attractive man. (I barely noticed him, actually.)

Before we were served, I saw someone I knew and left our table briefly to exchange a word with her. When I returned a minute or two later, N remarked (I should mention that N is a rather jealous husband (and that I wouldn't have it any other way)) that the gentleman across the way had been paying inordinate (in N's view) attention to me, in spite of, N claimed, being entirely aware that N had to be observing this untoward (translation: perfectly normal) behavior.

We began talking about other things. But I waited for a certain strategic moment-- when N was looking directly at me, and the man across the way was looking safely in the other direction-- and I made a very lewd face in the direction of the handsome gentleman. It involved a fixed stare with a slow wink and some suggestive lip-licking.

Well, as a practical joke, it was highly effective. Before I began laughing, N had the most amazed and aghast look on his face!

A teeny bit mean, but funny.

I should have saved it for April 1.
