DSL.net Deploys New Operations Support System
Best of breed applications automate DSL.net's back office systems and provide greater response to customers
NEW HAVEN, Conn., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- DSL.net, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSLN - news), a direct provider of high-speed Internet access and solutions, today announced that it has successfully deployed a new Operations Support System (OSS) to automate its supply chain process. The OSS combines software and services from, among others, MetaSolv Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: MSLV - news) and NightFire(TM) Software Inc., with implementation through BusinessEdge Solutions. From point-of-sale through the provisioning and installation of service, to post-sale customer care and loop ordering from Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs), the entire process can now be managed from a single, central system. This will result in reduced service intervals and error rates that can sometimes plague emerging Internet and data communications companies.

''Establishing an OSS that can scale in size to meet our projected growth was an important task,'' said David Struwas, DSL.net's president and chief executive officer. ''The fact that we were able to deploy ahead of schedule and on-budget demonstrates the importance we place on our ability to execute for our customers. Our successful implementation is largely due to the caliber of our partners and the focus of our internal resources.''

The multi-component deployment enables customers to verify the availability of DSL.net service in their area and provides an extensive intranet application for the sales team that includes a lead-filtering and screening application. The new system will immediately increase sales force productivity. DSL.net has successfully automated the pre-qualification, eligibility, and distance validation processes with an Internet based e- business solution.

Telecom Business Solution(TM) (TBS(TM)) from MetaSolv, a leading provider of operations support systems, will provide workflow automation, order entry, order management, network inventory and design, Internet domain/email management, service provisioning, trouble management, and customer care for DSL.net's new OSS.

DSL.net also deployed NightFire's(TM) SupplierExpress(TM) 2.0 software, an application that will allow DSL.net to streamline its communication with its ILEC partners.

''DSL.net is the first company to receive the benefit of the latest version of our product, SupplierExpress(TM) 2.0, which we announced in November,'' said Jerry Rudisin, chief executive officer of NightFire. ''With SupplierExpress as a key component of its overall OSS, DSL.net will be able to facilitate its relationships with the ILECs, resulting in improved service for its customers.''

BusinessEdge, a leader in delivering innovative industry focused OSS strategies, teamed with DSL.net to provide program management, design, integration, and implementation of DSL.net's OSS. ''DSL.net is a company that is clearly thinking about its customers,'' said Shailendra Jain, managing partner of BusinessEdge. ''The work they have done with their OSS shows a creativity and commitment to service that has made it a pleasure to be part of this project.''
