Don't know what impacts this may have on WK, but it would seem the people to be most concerned are the symbian/EPOC alliance. No?

Motorola in China research agreement
CHICAGO, Ill., Dec 8 (Reuters) - Telecommunications equipment maker Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT - news) said Wednesday that it has agreed to work with China's Research Institute of Telecommunications Transmission on development of third generation mobile communications technology.

Each party will contribute about 10 people to do the research. Participants will include Motorola research and development centers in Swindon, England, and Beijing, China, as well as the Research Institute of Telecommunications Transmission.

The projects aim to gain a better understanding of the unique third generation needs of the Chinese market, including applications, standards, network design and implementation, the company said.

Motorola shares were up four at 135-1/2 Wednesday.
