Number of Millionaires in America

According to the Bureau of the Census and information that lags two years but probably is still fairly accurate the number of millionaires has increased from 3.9% to 4.1% from 1995 to 1997. Based on Census personnel estimates it means that 4.1 million households have net worths of more than one million dollars.

This is confirmed more or less by a professor at New York University who has spent his life examining these issues.

This information comes from a New York Times article published within the past six months.
