Nope - didn't make it to IEDM. A bunch of my buddies are there though so I'll be able to let you know what the discussion was on the Intel paper. I did get an INITIAL peek at a 733MHz Coppermine. The notched process is in
manufacturing NOW. Also, based on physical poly measurements and some assumptions of Fmax, published drive currents, and gate capacitance, I now (my opinion only) think Coppermine will indeed reach 1GHz as a shippable part (with appropriate guard band). So, you were probably right all along.
