First, prepare for y2k - Batteries, water and cash.
Second, Cash in on all equities.
A balanced portfolio should hold only best goverment bills (no munis), conservative MM funds and some gold. I advocate holding a few low premium gold coins as well, just to feel totaly prepared. I will increase on the small BEARX position I hold from $7.5 .
When I see a 2-2.5B shares down day on the Naz I believe it would be all over. Short the market - lock stock and barrel.
My favorite short candidate is of course AMZN.
While MSFT, CSCO, QCOM and INTC are trading around 3 times their fundamental value IMO, AMZN is realy worth $1-2B IMO.
