Should have been: or at least Orthodox....The reasoning is pretty simple: If one believes in the providence of God, then there should be an easily discerned sign of what is the "true Church". Catholics would say that sign is communion with Rome, and cite the text, "Thou art Peter, and upon thee I shall build my Church". The Orthodox would say communion with those churches which are historically continuous with the early Church, as evidenced by the testimony of the first seven ecumenical councils, which attested to the commonly held orthodox faith. Both are pretty simple criteria, and do not involve a theory of the "invisible church" within the institutional church, awaiting the Reformation......
