VPI - Yes buying heavily in 2 of my 3 accounts. 1 account is nearly maxed out. You can kind of tell the best E&P plays here because they were the last to pullback. APA, VPI, OIL were some of the last to pullback.

APA due to it's quality/leadership and
VPI and OIL due to their heavy oil concentration.

VPI near 3x cash flows. It'll look very cheap to the novice investor/mo mo crowd purely on a PE basis after q4 earnings.

Slider - Bought PXD at $10, now down 20+% but I have no complaint. PXD will be a star in '00.

Now the real deal - Stone Energy (SGY) - down $20 from its early fall high to $36ish. Its a great GOM company - very successful E&P rate - more on the oil side. The fall high was a company record as opposed to most E&P's or OSX which were at 50% of '97 highs. I'd be buying here but my PTEN is down - ouch.

Slider, consider this a test of your OS capex/Chicago area knowledge. Just a friendly challenge of your OS knowledge.

12/8 13:30 Coastal, Peoples Energy to Build $300 Million Gas Pipeline in Midwest
By Steve Klein
Coastal, Peoples Energy to Build $300 Mln Natural-Gas Pipeline

Houston, Dec. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Coastal Corp. said it's
teaming with Peoples Energy Corp. to build a $300 million natural-
gas pipeline from Indiana to Wisconsin to supply fuel to new
power plants in the Midwest.

The 130-mile pipeline will carry as much as 1.4 billion
cubic feet a day. It will begin at St. John, Indiana, about 10
miles southeast of Chicago, run north to Lake Michigan, and
likely emerge from the lake near Milwaukee, Coastal said.

Houston-based Coastal, the sixth-biggest U.S. interstate-
pipeline operator, and Peoples, a Chicago-based gas utility,
haven't determined how much each will pay, Coastal spokesman Joe
Martucci said. They expect to add partners, he said.

The pipeline will connect with a hub in Joliet, Illinois,
that receives gas from western Canada, the Rocky Mountains and
the Gulf of Mexico region.

Houston-based Coastal owns 18,000 miles of interstate gas
pipelines, power plants worldwide, chemical plants, coal mines
and gasoline stations. It also trades gas and power, and explores
for oil and gas.

Peoples owns two utilities that sell gas to about 1 million
people in northeastern Illinois.
