GREENSBORO, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999--RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD - news), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, today announced that it has shipped its fifty millionth CDMA product.

Ranked, according to QUALCOMM, as one of the fastest-growing digital technologies, the CDMA network has grown to over 35 million subscribers to date. The CDMA Development Group reports that the number of CDMA subscribers are expected to reach over 50 million by the end of 1999.

steven: Curious what each brings to the table from a technology standpoint. Both are huge and Microsof has deep pockets, but what leading edge technology for the wireless/internet nexus does either have? Chaz
