Stillwater is of course not "the only primary producer of platinum group metals in North America" since North American Palladium happens to be in the same primary business. And did this Merrill Lynch analyst factor in the possible cost to Stillwater of paying Idaho Consolidated Metals, Corporation montanaplatinum.com for the right of tunneling its East Boulder twin adits towards the J-M Reef through ground Idaho claims ( #reply-12229720 )?

I thought the rising cost of platinum was due in part to the supposed Russian regulatory and administrative 'problems'. (They are currently shipping palladium.) Check out the current lease rates for platinum (very high) and palladium (much lower) on Kitco: kitco.com
Palladium is pricey as a direct result of its scarcity in exposed rocks.
