If you are responding to a message was written with "use fixed font" it will not use it either by default and will not size itself to the window. But your message has to be long enough to run off the window.

This whole thing might be my fault when I initially wrote that message about advertising space in Best Buy in "fixed font". It looked better that way, I manually used carriage return on that post.
