I disagree with some analyst saying that 50 gig will pick up
sales of slower 12.8.
12.8 will be satndard for LMDS which is just starting to be hot and NN won about 50% of contracts worldwide.
LMDS carrier which are small relatively to ATT,BT or SBC do not will not need 50 gig for the next few years.

the big guys take ussually fully loaded

Its been my understanding that switches are usually ordered less than fully populated. Some spare cards are ordered then as the network expands more cards are ordered.
