MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT, December 16, 1999 - USA Video Interactive Corp. (NASD: USVO; CDNX: US; www.usvo.com ) and The LearningStation.com ( www.learningstation.com ) have concluded an agreement to jointly market and promote their products and services, including The LearningStation.com's film and video libraries. USA Video Interactive will digitize and compress the videos using its Wavelet and patented Video-on-Demand technologies and will work with The LearningStation.com to make this content available via the Internet.
"We are very excited to have brought USA Video Interactive's amazing technology to bear in making our global deployments even more valuable to our customers, who look to us to be on the leading edge of available educational products and services," The LearningStation.com Chief Executive Officer Craig Larsen said. "This means we need to present our content in the most compelling way possible. USA Video Interactive's Internet-based streaming video allows us to do that because it is by far the highest quality."
Larsen said adding the new dimensions of USA Video Interactive file compression and streaming video to The LearningStation.com's world-leading educational offerings is expected to increase its market share and market demand significantly.
Edwin Molina, president of USA Video Interactive, said partnerships such as this underscore the importance of USA Video Interactive's technology to the world marketplace. "This is a perfect example of how USA Video Interactive adds value to established companies who have distribution channels already in place," he said. "The benefits are readily seen by both companies in this partnership and by the clients we serve."
Molina said the announcement solidifies USA Video Interactive's position as the leader in bringing interactive video to the education market. USA Video Interactive is a founding member of the SchoolTone Alliance, which brings together education technology and service providers to collectively create web-based solutions for educational content, communications tools, applications and professional development for the education community. USA Video Interactive also has or is developing significant education deployments, including a consortium of career colleges in Puerto Rico and Florida, "Distance Education" programs in conjunction with Teikyo Post University, and secondary school deployments through USA Video Interactive's new K-12video.com educational video portal.
