TELEMANAGEMENT WORLD, Las Vegas, Nevada, December 6, 1999 -- Newbridge Networks (NYSE: NN; TSE: NNC) today announced the
expansion of the interoperability of its network and service management product portfolio through open interfaces into the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network
Manager. The Newbridge network and service management product family has been integrated with several best of breed, complementary third-party
application developers to demonstrate the interoperability of the product family.

Newbridge network and service management products have a worldwide reputation for helping service providers and corporate customers expand the limits
of conventional networking and service provisioning capabilities with open, integrated products.

The MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager, the foundation of the Newbridge management family, is a widely deployed, carrier-class multiservice
network and service management system that is interoperable with the entire MainStreetXpress product management family. Through the Connect Exec
gateway, it is open for integration with peer network management systems, as well as third party application products.

"Newbridge Networks is setting a fine example for the telecommunications industry with its on-going efforts at adoption and development of open
interfaces," said Elizabeth Adams, president and CEO, TeleManagement Forum. "The interoperability that Newbridge and its partners are demonstrating at
TeleManagement World is another step on the road to TM Forum's goal of true plug-and-play systems for the communications industry."

Using the Connect Exec gateway into the MainStreet Xpress 46020 Network Manager, Astracon delivers complete flow-through provisioning - from service
order to service activation. Astracon develops the Connection Manager and Private iWay family of software products. Astracon's demonstration of
Connection Manager includes an interface to the Newbridge Networks management system, using Connect Exec.

Through an interface to the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager, via the Connect Exec gateway, the Compaq Broadband Service Controller provides
a single, integrated solution. The Compaq Broadband Service Controller is a TeMIP-based packaged solution for provisioning and monitoring of broadband
network services. This solution supports ATM and frame relay, as well as ATM-FR interworking PVCs across multi-vendor networks.

Working with the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager, CrossKeys Systems Corporation elevates service reporting beyond simple path to encompass
all aspects of how carriers guarantee service to their customers. CrossKeys Resolve software is a portfolio of network and service level management
applications that provides performance-oriented and customer-focused service information for multi-vendor, multi-technology telecom networks.

Inlogic extends the widespread momentum of customer self care into the network management environment through integration with the Newbridge VPN
Service Manager (VSM). The VSM enables service providers to offer multiservice VPNs to their customers. This innovative use of advanced technology
will demonstrate how E-Care makes it possible for businesses and consumers to manage their leased data services as offered by service providers on the
MainStreetXpress platform.

Using an adaptation of the Connect Exec gateway via the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager, Objective Systems Integrators assists service
providers with the management of service assurance, delivery and fulfillment across Newbridge ATM, frame relay, and digital subscriber line (DSL) network
elements. This unified management approach enables service providers to control operation costs and roll out new services quickly, while providing
premium quality service to customers. OSI supplies communications service providers with advanced software solutions that simplify the management of
complex, multi-vendor environments.

"Newbridge has long been recognized as the benchmark for technology with rich, scalable, end-to-end integrated network and service management," said
Michael Manson, assistant vice president, NSM Open Programs, Newbridge Networks. "A key component to facilitating carriers' process automation is our
extensive, standards-compliant family of APIs and the degree to which third parties have developed into our environment. This allows service providers to
more rapidly define and deploy new services, while controlling their costs. We are pleased to be participating at TeleManagementWorld with Astracon,
Compaq, Crosskeys, Inlogic and OSI, showcasing their interoperability with the Newbridge management products".

Newbridge network and service management products provide state-of-the-art, harmonized solutions covering each layer of the Telecommunications
Management Network model. Newbridge hardware and software products are much more than a collection of parts. They are an expression of the
Newbridge philosophy of emphasizing operational excellence, while controlling costs.

The Newbridge network and service management portfolio will be demonstrated at TeleManagement World, in Las Vegas, booth 47, December 6-9, 1999.
