I would NEVER throw these boots away, Christine. Asolo - all-leather. One of those truly "perfect" items you come across rarely in a lifetime. Extremely rugged and supportive but more comfortable than an old pair of slippers. Good looking, too. Mile after mile after wondrous mile in the high country of Switzerland and Austria. Cost effective or not - I'm getting them fixed. The Big Bamboo is three or four blocks north of me and across the street from the Atlantic. Upstairs. A smallish dive, really. One of the few bars in the U.S. without a television.
