I saw something very interesting today: Older model Dell desktop systems being sold through the Damask catalogue for under $400 ($350???) including computer, monitor, keyboard, speakers, color printer and free, **Alta Vista** internet access!

I was at my neighbors' at the time and knew nothing about the catalogue. They told me Damask liquidates obsolete and excess inventory from numerous companies. A computer-geek friend of their son (who is in his late 20s) came over while we were discussing what gets sold through Damask so I showed Chris (the young fellow) the Dell ad and asked what he thought.

Chris told me he has noticed Dell systems being offered by another catalogue like Damask [I forget its name] also lately. He said he was surprised, being under the impression that even older systems got sold directly by Dell. I told him I was surprised because I was under the assumption Dell only built systems to order such that Dell should not have to liquidate any unsold inventory.

For CPQ, IMB, HWP to unload obsolete systems through the likes of Damask does not surprise me. But Dell?
