Telstra and STAR Telecom Form Network Alliance

SANTA BARBARA/SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1999--STAR
Telecommunications Inc. (Nasdaq:STRX) and Telstra Inc., a subsidiary
of Telstra Corp. (NYSE:TLS) today announced a network alliance that
will accelerate Telstra's expansion in the United States.
STAR Telecom will provide Telstra with bandwidth capacity and
network control services from its data center in Los Angeles. Under
the terms of the contract, Telstra will utilize STAR's DMS 250/300
international gateway switch on the West Coast.
"This agreement is an extension of our long-standing relationship
with STAR Telecommunications in providing global networking services
between the U.S. and the Asia Pacific region," said Peter Williamson,
CEO of Telstra Incorporated, the U.S. subsidiary of Australia's
Telstra Corp.
