Now here's a good idea from the Yahoo CLub. But instead of waiting for one and two years to make use of the CMGI investment, an even better idea would have been to have floated AV in October/November 1999 enjoy the 300+% increase in its price, while making use of its leverage in the sale of COMPAQ products, and when it reached astronomical capitalisation, do a reverse takeover of COMPAQ. Failing that, follow the more conservative course of cashing in an inflated AV, and then buy back a large portion of COMPAQ shares with the proceeds.

It is not too late to sell off the PC division and use the proceeds to invest in "itnernuts". Come to think of it, why not sell off all operational divisions, intellectual properties, all real estate holdings, reduce the staff count by 99%, use cash in hand to add to the CMGI holdings.

...........CPQ's made alot of money in its various investments so far...

CMGI, ICGE, ASKJ ... they're all flying... too bad it only adds to CPQ's book value, and not earnings, and so isn't really helping us all that much. although i suppose it sure can't hurt.

here's a wild idea... if CMGI ever follows YHOO to close to a $100 Billion market cap, and CPQ remains at its current price, CPQ's 19% stake in CMGI would be enough to buy back almost half of CPQ's outstanding shares!! now THAT would sure provide a nice boost to EPS, wouldn't it???
