REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. and UPPSALA, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov.

Partnership with Nocom provides wireless, mobile connectivity to
enterprise data via mobile phones -- adding to the growing list of
eSNAPP-supported Information Appliances

Centura(TM) Software Corporation (NASDAQ:CNTR), leader in
e-business and Information Appliance databases and development
solutions, announced today with Nocom AB (Stockholm:NOCMB SS), the
leading supplier of WEB and WAP-enabled software and services in
Scandinavia, that Centura will support and extend the WAP protocol to
eSNAPP, Centura's appliance connectivity server.
This announcement builds on the companies' seven-year partnership
through which they have committed to jointly developing WAP
connectivity for eSNAPP. Furthermore, Centura and Nocom will work
together on international sales and marketing programs for WAP
Direct(TM) and eSNAPP.
Nocom's WAP Direct is the first application
subscription program for corporations on the international market. Now
empowered by Centura's technology, Nocom can further extend wireless
mobile connectivity to enterprise data via mobile phones.

Most recently, Nocom has become a business development partner
with Nokia Wireless Software Solutions to deliver Nokia's leading WAP
Server technology to Scandinavia, the country ranking as world-leader
in deployment of mobile phones. Centura's eSNAPP is the first
enterprise-wide solution that provides mobile access to enterprise
data for time critical decision support applications such as sales
force automation and healthcare data management. Together, Centura's
eSNAPP and Nocom's WAP Direct solution will make it possible for
companies, system integrators, and program developers to offer
enterprise Internet- or intranet-based information and services to
customers, business partners and employees via their mobile phones.
"This collaboration gives both companies a strong position in the
mobile market for handheld devices and WAP-enabled phones," said
Anders Jonson, CEO of Nocom AB. "This is a breakthrough for our WAP
Direct concept on the international market -- our cooperation with
Centura is proof that long and profitable relationships are the best
foundation to build businesses on."
According to Jack Gold, senior program manager at META Group, "In
the next 2-3 years, nearly all new phones sold will be WAP-enabled.
That does not mean everyone will be automatically browsing the web. It
does mean a potentially huge marketplace for business and consumer
uses.

-----
"Nocom's understanding of mobile solutions and WAP is a perfect
fit to expand the eSNAPP platform to become the leading solution for
mobile integration," said Joe Falcone, chief technology officer of
Centura. "Several years ago, mobile phone sales volume surpassed that
of PCs, validating that WAP is where the growth will be for year 2000
and beyond. We are extremely pleased to join forces with a leading
European firm in recognition of the importance of the development of
WAP services as adopted by mobile phone leaders such as Ericsson and
Nokia."

Concentric Partner and CAM to Offer Unique End-to-End E-Commerce Solution
Aimed at Small Retailers

Affordable Solution Pairs Web Hosting and E-Commerce Technology With Back
Office Retail Software

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Concentric Network Corp.
(Nasdaq: CNCX), a leading provider of e-business solutions for growing
companies, and CAM Data Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CADA) announced today a joint
partnership to deliver the industry's first, most affordable end-to-end
Internet storefront technology and back office retailing software to
small- and medium-sized traditional and Web retailers. The software -- called
i.STAR -- allows a retailer to create a sophisticated Web store that leverages
Retail STAR, CAM Data's back office business system, to create and launch a
Web site without the need for a dedicated Web development team. The i.STAR Web
storefront software and the Retail STAR back office retailing and order
processing software offer a seamless business solution, which resides on a
single database hosted within Concentric's state-of-the-art data center
facility. CAM Data is pairing its retail management software with
ConcentricAIP, an application infrastructure platform that includes server
management hosting and application monitoring, to enable small- and mid-sized
retail companies to extend their business reach and leverage the power of the
Internet.
"i.STAR is the most robust product for the small retailers we've seen,"
said Mark Fisher, senior vice president and general manager of Concentric's
network services division. "With its price point at less than 10% of
comparable solutions, it fills a huge need in the marketplace for the smaller
retailer who is serious about doing business on the Web. We are pleased to be
partnering with CAM Data. Their retail management solutions are powerful, and
more importantly, affordable and simple to use, making it a logical compliment
to Concentric's portfolio of e-business solutions."

Retail Management Solution
This end-to-end solution for small retailers, includes a complete Internet
storefront with seamless links to back office software, inventory management,
purchasing and receiving, customer management, sales order processing,
accounts receivable, UPS shipping and tracking, management reporting and
credit card processing capability. Moreover, i.STAR and Retail STAR use a
secure, encrypted database called SQLBase SafeGarde from Centura Software
(Nasdaq: CNTR) (www.centurasoft.com). SQLbase SafeGarde offers 56-bit and
128-bit encryption capability with no performance degradation, and plays the
key role in keeping the retailers' data secure. Centura also participated in
the development of i.STAR through a development partnership with CAM Data.

In addition to providing a complete retail management solution, CAM Data
and Concentric will begin delivering educational seminars on e-commerce for
small retailers throughout the country. Starting in January, these seminars
are designed to assist retailers in the overall growth of their online
business channel. The seminars will be held in major cities throughout the
U.S., and in conjunction with many of the retail trade shows that CAM Data
participates in beginning in the first quarter.
"The last piece of the puzzle for us in getting ready to deploy i.STAR,
was selecting an application infrastructure provider and business partner for
delivering i.STAR," stated Geoff Knapp, CEO of CAM Data Systems. It is very
important that these sites come up in a reliable fashion and that they are
easy to maintain from a hosting standpoint if we are going to be able to keep
the price low. We feel that Concentric offers our customers the best
combination of Web hosting and managed services, while offering us the best
possible partner for business development and co-marketing support. Simply
put, we believe their business model fits extremely well with ours. We also
believe that Concentric's e-commerce service is a great entry level solution
for our customers who are not yet ready for i.STAR."

Price and Availability
Available in January, this end-to-end solution, including Internet
storefront technology, retail management software, Windows NT, Centura net.db
and SQLBase Safegarde starts at under $20,000 or for $500 per month. The
hosting component, provided by the Concentric, is based on per month usage.
Each i.STAR customer will have their own Web server, hosted by Concentric,
which is capable of storing well in excess of 100,000 items for sale. Beta
sites of i.STAR hosted by Concentric will be available within 30 days. A
sample demonstration of the i.STAR software and concept may be viewed on CAM
Data's Web site at www.camdata.com.

Centura sizzles

"It's like a high school reunion" on Silicon Investor's Centura message boards, according to JatinK. Bolstered by some linux buzz and a deal with SAP, shares of Centura (CNTR: news, msgs) screamed up 58 percent during Friday's trading session. After enduring years of an avalanching stock price, shareholders came together to join in the celebration. See company profile

Shivram saw Friday as a turning point: "It's just a nice dream after the years of nightmares. All the hype is because of the press release with the word linux. I think the company's direction has changed a lot, and their focus on the embedded markets is going to be lucrative."

Over on Yahoo, investors, like Kaffads, were just as excited: "SAP news is big! Been with this stock for a few years now. This SAP-joint press release is bigtime! The exposure in this marketplace is/will continue to be gigantic for Centura." And Optimist took it one step further: "CNTR interface with Sap technology. Major businesses are more and more going to SAP, and the travel aspect of the palm pilot is the advanced stage of the laptop. See you at 10 Monday and 50 by June 2000."

Don't play the daytrading game with this one, advised HoustonTrader: "This stock should be held for at least six months! They have been in business for a number of years and have something worth buying ... They can deliver their product anywhere in the world. They know how to make money -- An Internet play that makes money?"

And, of course, a rampant rumor on Yahoo? Slowvok dropped this whisper: "Word on the Street -- CNTR may be in deal with Red Hat. Red Hat! This could be huge." Crazier things have happened.

Some good press coupled with a churning rumor mill kept the erstwhile vacant CNTR boards buzzing at full speed. Will the company be able to back up the hype? Monday will be pivotal as the Street has the whole weekend to digest CNTR's rocket ride.
