Jim,

My thoughts there were more of a personal nature between Mark and I because that is the truth. It sometimes looks as if Mark is so open to discovery, but if you really look , his total refusal to read or learn more or to come to know Jesus is pretty straight forward. Mark may want to know WHY you know Jesus, but that ain't the same.

Example: Tuesdays With Morrie was a book recommended to me by Mark. I bought it, I read it, I like it. It shows great compassion and humanity. Mark loved the statement "Forgive everybody everything" made by Morrie. Yet why does he love it and where does it come from? Mark? you reading this? :o)

Example. I am 47. But still like some rock music. He recommended Santana's new cd to me. I bought it. Some good tunes in there and some with much Spiritual overtones. BUT even to look at the cd jacket you also see much new age in it, something that does not affect me or I would have trashed it. It may affect others differently.

Sometimes I recommend a book. I recommended one recently called " The Master, A Life of Jesus" by John Pollack. I recommended it because it reads more like a novel taken from the eyes of John the disciple. I would not have recommended it if had lead to any denominational theory. It is just an excellant little book that brings much humanity to Jesus life, something we sometimes struggle with.

The video series of Jesus in Matthew that I recommended does the same thing. The Christian actor, Bruce Marchiano and his portrayal of Jesus in The Visual Bible film production, The Gospel According To Matthew, really brings it to humanity sort of life. Again, something I think we sometimes miss because it is hard to see if you were not there. Same as with "Tuesdays with Morrie" The book was excellent, but Jack Lemmons portrayal of Morrie brought something to me that the book could not. And it also narrowed a few things for me too.

So ANYWAYYYY , that may be a long way around saying that if Mr. Sprouls book is a denominational study, I probably would not read it, as I am about 20 books behind right now, but if it is just a glimpse of Jesus, I will review it and decide to read it or not. Ok? Fair enough?
