NETP - CBS Marketwatch - Japan This was in today's CBS Marketwatch - Asia Section Life of an electronic salesman The Japanese subsidiary of Net Perceptions Inc. of the U.S. (NETP: news, msgs) is ready to sell its e-commerce software packages to help online retailers in Japan better sell their wares. The company's main product is the Net Perceptions Recommendation Engine, a specialized search engine that analyzes the buying and searching patterns of consumers. It then matches that information with data collected from consumers with similar preferences and habits. Shopping recommendations, targeted advertising, offers of special personalized sales follow. Net Perceptions Japan, established in August, will offer Japanese-language products designed for the construction of call center systems and online shopping sites that make use of the search engine. Over the next year it aims to sign 12 contracts for its E-Commerce 5.0 and a half a dozen contracts for Call Centers 2.0.
