If Citrix is faced with a competitor that offers a solution that remotely displays windows applications using the X protocol, I do not believe it would be much of a competitive threat.

OK, lets try this one more time. The GraphOn product DOES NOT use the X-window protocol to transmit information between the client and the server. However, if the client is a computer whose GUI is based on X, the application's windows eventually get drawn by calls to the X-windows API. GraphOn bought a patent that describes a dynamic mapping of Windows GUI calls to X GUI calls to make this happen.

I think some people have mistakenly felt that I think this is a big threat to Citrix. I don't. My worst case scenario is that Citrix ends up paying some royalties to GraphOn, and they'll only have to do that if the Unix and Linux ICA clients use the same technique for drawing windows.
