Franklin Telecom Announces Open Source Linux Driver Line Interface Designed Exclusively for Linux Operating Systems
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 1999--Franklin Telecom (AMEX:FCM - news) today announced the availability of a T1 line interface card with an Open Source Linux driver.

The card, dubbed the ICT1, provides the growing Linux community with a telephone line interface board designed exclusively for use with the Linux operating system.

The ICT1 card supports Multi-Vendor Integration Protocol (MVIP) and can be used in hardware supporting a wide variety of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications, including Internet PBX, Data Voice Gateways, fax servers, terminal servers, channel banks and more.

According to Franklin CEO Frank Peters, ``While much excitement has been engendered recently over Linux IPOs -- like Red Hat Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT - news) and VA Linux (Nasdaq:LNUX - news) -- it's interesting to note that all of our VoIP products, including our award-winning Tempest© System and the forthcoming Breeze(TM) and Typhoon© lines have been Linux based from their inception.

``We haven't needed to add Linux compatibility -- it was designed in from the beginning. This is very gratifying when you see the renewed interest in Linux by companies like Corel (Nasdaq:CORL - news), Caldera (OTC:CLDF - news) and SuSE, in Germany.'

The ICT1 is available for immediate shipment in CSU and DSX versions to system developers and integrators.
