I hope you aren't using a web-based broker. They all are too slow and prone to crashing. I use gold stocks as long term "puts" on the market, as real options might get declared void.

I placed an aorder with NDB to buy 200 AU at 24 3/8, the ask. 15 minutes later an execution on mytrack shows an execution for 200 AU at 24 5/16. Five minutes later I get confirmation that I bought 200 AU at 24 3/8. I guess it took them a while to "work" my order. Moral of the story: never use a web based broker except for the least critical of all trades.
