Ed F. Sunw's market cap is now greater than Dell's while Sunw supports (a) 50% less revenue and (b) overall less revenue growth.

so either some funds have their head up their ... relative to the future or (a) Dell is worth considerably more, (b) Sunw is worth considerably less, or (c) they expect Dell's growth rate to falter.

as CIBC's analyst stated; Dell only needs to maintain market share in the enterprise arena in order to generate $11 billion from this sector alone next year. let's add in all the other sectors and you arrive at $35 billion, 2.4X SUNW's projected revenue growth for year 2000.

one other thing ED. it is absolutely ludicrous to believe that simply because SUNW has a strangle hold with UNIX that in the year 2000 MSFT or Linux do not pose a serious threat.

(a) governments still must replace over 60% of their systems by 2005 in order to fully comply with y2K (temporary fixes are not intended to last), (b) necessary wireless connects will create a "whole new pc/handheld paradigm" for both the home and the office - the wireless paradigm being a stronger replacement factor than either win 98, win 95 or the development of UNIX itself, (c) internet expansion will cause firms everywhere to re-evaluate current systems in place purchased five years or more ago.
