Thing is, I ran into that a bit myself. I installed a Dimension system for a friend about a year ago, and it had the USB controlled Altec Lansing speakers. A couple of months later, my friend noticed that the speaker control screen would just pop up on the monitor without him touching any of the speaker controls. I went over and checked the system out as best I could, looked like a case of the speaker system sending in signals when it should not to trigger the problem. Dell tech's response was to suggest 'disabling this function by checking the box to no longer allow it'. My response (politely) of course <gggg>, was that his response was a bunch of BS and that I wanted a new set of speakers sent to my friend. After a bunch of hemming and hawing he finally relented. Pretty clear that they are trained this way to try and dissuade the customer and save the company bucks in the process....

John
