Thu 9 Dec 99 News Release
Mr. Graham Whitmarsh reports
British Airways Regional has formally accepted the company's flagship
Magellan software system.
According to Mercury's president and chief executive officer, Graham
Whitmarsh, the functional acceptance by British Airways Regional is a
significant milestone for the company.
"We are very pleased to have completed the installation and passed
acceptance at British Airways Regional," Mr. Whitmarsh said. "This
acceptance is the acknowledgement that we have been waiting for -- the
system functions as designed and can by used operationally."
Mercury's next-generation Magellan product is a real-time decision support
system for tracking crew on the day of operations. By providing real-time
visibility to solve crew scheduling problems, Magellan significantly
reduces an airline's overall operating costs and disruptions.
Mr. Whitmarsh went on to say: "Our first Magellan delivery is now complete,
and as we focus Mercury's efforts on further deliveries, we are pleased to
have completed this milestone as anticipated and to budget. This is a major
achievement for a real time mission critical system".
British Airways Regional will operate Mercury's integrated suite of crew
management systems at its EuroHub, serving Birmingham, Manchester and
Glasgow. Mercury's products will manage flight and cabin crew for the
entire British Airways Regional Boeing 737 and new Airbus A319 fleets.
