I agree with your theory about IBM blaming Y2K for their own mess-ups. They did it previously when their PC business was losing money. Mater-of-fact, CPQ (EP&EM) did the same 1 & 2 yrs ago .. blamed the businesses for not buying anything the industry was selling.

Hopefully, FMs will realize IBM's 'inaccuracy' re: Y2K and not hold everyone to the fire. Although there has been a report that consumer sales were slower than this past summer's. All-in-all this is an opportunity for the FMs to smartly earn their keep.
