Carl,

Engineering wise, the story on RMBS is very very broken,

As I am sure you can guess, I totally disagree. I have been expecting an announcement on higher data transfer rates for a very long time. It came today. I am confident that it can be achieved. I am also confident that DDR will not scale much further in its present form.

That the company is talking about branching out into other things than PC memory is an indication.

On the contrary. Rambus indicated their intention to do this a long time ago. My interpretation is that they no longer need to concentrate their resources so tightly on the PC market and can now continue to follow their original plan.

As for the price - concentrate on the long term - I certainly can't make sense of the short term behaviour.

John

Carl, no, I may have a loss on this trade if we do not hold the Maginot line, but there will be other trades. Mind you, when all th institution are finished getting out, there would not be much selling left to do, and the "moms and pops " on this thread (your humble servitor included) may have their day. This stock has been "extremely good" to me, so, it will be with sorrow that I see it breach this area. As for the "Charlie brown" action in today CC's, I disagree with you. RMBS is in the PC to stay and have a road map to keep them ahead of the pack (if they execute) for few years. I think that the CC was organized to counter the FUD, but was not very successful in this respect. The fact remains that RMBS powered PC are shipping as I type, but DDR powered systems maybe a year or so down the road.

Institutional buying increase form 6/30 to 9/30. I have the numbers in previous post. The total of top 10 institutions are over 10 M shares. Mostly shorted or sold out by now I would believe. The buying during the 3Q buyins by institutions was definitely from 9/28 to 9/30. The volume was high each day and price was flying up from low of 58 1/2.
I like to see where we bottom out at before I cast a net back into RMBS. I would guess the timeframe would be sometime near end of year if institutions want RMBS in their portfolios at year end. I would only start looking the week of DEC 27.
