The announcement confirmed a report in The Wall Street Journal. Under the agreement, members of Travelocity.com and Preview Travel (PTVL) will be able to name their own ticket prices through Priceline.com's (PCLN) service. In exchange, Priceline.com's customers will have access to the retail fares of Travelocity.com and Preview Travel. Travelocity.com is operated by Fort Worth, Texas-based Sabre Holdings Corp. (TSG). Sabre Holdings said in October that it has agreed to merge Travelocity.com with San Francisco-based Preview Travel, retaining a 70% stake in the combined public company, Travelocity.com Inc. The companies plan to close the merger in the first quarter. Separately, Priceline.com's Travel Services unit Thursday unveiled its Priceline2000 service upgrade for airline tickets. The company plans to begin offering two new options for its Name Your Own Price leisure airline ticket service in the first quarter. One option, called Quick-Answer, will electronically check price requests with airlines and quickly provide an electronic-mail answer. The other option, Max-Chance, will repeatedly check for up to 48 hours. Also in the first quarter, Priceline.com will launch its Retail Fare Shopper service, which publishes ticket prices and sells retail tickets through affiliates. In the second quarter, the company plans to begin offering Name Your Own Price vacation packages, including airline tickets and cruise, hotel, time-share and rental car accommodations. "
