Vic-- this may help it go even farther down tomorrow. Good news does that for CPQ...
MEXICO CITY, Dec. 09 (El Universal/Infolatina)-- In the first quarter
of this year Compaq sold the same amount of Presario computers in
Mexico as it did in the whole of 1998, contributing to a 162 percent
growth in the market. Thanks to these sales Compaq has a market
participation of more than 20 percent, even before taking into account
new sales generated by the company's alliances with Telmex, which,
through staged payments, make the purchase of a Compaq or other
computer, more accessible. Though sales grew 162 percent, they rose 59
percent in value terms, due to lower prices.
