Why would you infer a correlation between covered writing activity and an increase in short positions?

ha ha haha "tears in my eyes" he hehehehehe

CYMI is a terrible covered call and that is precisely why it is being recommended. I've said it before and I'll say it again "don't touch options". It is a rigged game. Go to Las Vegas if you want to gamble at bad odds.

Here's an example from today's action on what goes wrong for covered call writers from someone who has argued for it on this thread.

techstocks.com

There is a concerted campaign to dupe long holders into writing covered calls to save the desperate lost short position in this stock.
This stock is gonna be a screaming 5-bagger winner for those with the guts to go long here and "sit tight" through the volatility.

The knucklehead smith that has been trying every stupid, obvious trading trick in the book (i.e. gaps, flooded trades at open and close) to cool the market for this stock is gonna get taken out horizontal.

Good Luck To Each And All
