Hey thanks. The performance was inspiring, as usual.

I just got this CD from a group named "Take 6." Ever hear them? I was talking with a friend who has a studio in the city. And somehow we got talking about The Manhattan Transfer. Before you know it, he is raving about "Take 6." "Take 6" this and "Take 6" that. So I got a few CD's to give them a try.

Turns out "Take 6" is like Manhattan Transfer, but much more accurate, both in intonation and technical facility. Its like R&B stuff, but a cappella. Six black guys (why they call it "Take 6"). Remarkable harmonisations and textures. Very very brilliant chord structures, line movements and modulations. Nothing quite like it anywhere. They sing a lot of Christian stuff, but it ain't like nothing you done heard. I tried plucking some of the structures out on the piano. I needed fingers that were real small, or hands that were gargantuan.

Gotta run.

Funny thing. A lot of the music this morning in church was sung in Latin. They sang a lot of old stuff. Can you believe that? Even put the Latin up so folk could see it. I am teaching my younger kids Latin, so it was great fun for them. Also, the pastor is a Jew and gave the benediction in Hebrew. Just worked out that way I guess. I enjoyed it.
