Makamai, re:<"Sideware's upside: if it become an exclusive supplier, Dr. Bean could be huge.>

Exclusive for all Sideware's partners is not likely. But Sideware could strike an exclusive deal with one partner that others agree to. That promise of exclusivity would have several results. Some of them are:

1) Big brother would want to buy some major shares.
2) Sideware could use the money to great advantage.
3) Other potential partners interest would cool some.
4) Sideware would not have to satisfy partners at odds.
5) Success tied to one partner's success.

Given the mixed bag, Owen Jones would have to craft a deal that IBM wants, Oracle agrees with and Sun/AT&T can live with. It could work. They do need each other and compete with each other at the same time. This is a tough negotiation. But I think Owen can pull it off. It is either a good exclusive deal or Sideware continues to dance with all the partners at the e commerce party.

As a business broker I negotiate daily. It can be a lot of fun. Timing is important. I do feel that the window is open now if any exclusivity is to be forged.
