Bob: Fascinating article about Beyond.com in today's WSJ. Shows that the hard part of making an internet company work is not the start up and funding the concept. In today's financial markets, this is the easy part. The real work (and risk) is in EXECUTION, and making sure customers are happy AT A COST LEVEL that makes money. According to the article, the CFO of Beyond.com quit when the going got rough because he "would rather work with start ups". Of course he would! That's the easy part! IMO, CKFR will succeed partly because they did it "backwards" by executing first. They've been serving customers for a decade, fine tuning and improving the model to be sure they can make money and keep customers happy. Only now are they scaling it up. Charlie
