Sue,

I copied the following from a recent company press release;

Tango 2000 is a next-generation Web development environment that dramatically improves the time to market to develop and deploy critical e-business applications. With Tango 2000, developers can create and deploy the dynamic, database-driven Web applications today's customers require--and do so quickly, cost-effectively and with remarkable flexibility. Because it combines sophisticated yet easy-to-use technology with an open, extensible architecture, Tango 2000 provides best-of-breed Web development capabilities for Webmasters, professional developers and non-professionals alike.

BJ

I haven't used Tango -- and I can't claim to be an expert on these things! -- but my understanding is that Tango has two principal components that help users build Web sites. The first component is a Web-development environment that helps users program their sites. The idea is to provide a simple set of tools that perform complex functions such as connecting Web sites to behind-the-scenes databases, managing transactions, and the like. As I understand it, this works something like the way word processors insert print functions or font changes -- which would be hard for most of us to program by hand -- when you click on the print or font icons.

The second component is an application server, which I think serves as the underlying engine that drives the programs generated by the Web-development process. The Linux story we're focused on right now is that the Tango 2000 for Linux application server will be available soon -- which means that sites built using the Tango Web-development environment will be able to run on Linux servers.

I think I've got this more or less correct. I apologize in advance for any of it that may not seem very clear.
