The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.1
percent in November, before seasonal adjustment, to a level of 168.3 (1982-84=100), the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. For the 12-month period ended in November, the CPI-U increased 2.6 percent.

Excluding food and energy, the CPI-U rose 0.2 percent in November, the same as in October.


Retail Sales for Nov. = +0,9%

The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that advance estimates of U.S. retail sales for November adjusted for seasonal, holiday, and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $255.8 billion, an increase of 0.9 percent (±0.7%) from the previous month and up 9.2 percent (±0.9%) from November 1998. Total sales for the September through November period were up 9.4 percent (±0.7%) from the same period a year ago. The September to October 1999 percent change was revised from unchanged (±0.7%) to +0.3 percent (±0.2%).
