I think that DDI/IDO just might get it. Note it is only a limited edition but it is a glimpse of things to come....It doesnt really make it clear how it will connect to the net. It seems like you will still need a phone, I dont think it has been integrated onto the motherboard.

The "PacketOne" 64kbps packet data transmission service:
cdmaOne™ is a cellular/car phone system based on the IS-95 U.S. standard that provides excellent voice
quality, fast and user-friendly data transfers, and the efficient use of radio frequencies.

In Japan, Kansai Cellular Telephone Co., Kyushu Cellular Telephone Co. and Okinawa Cellular Telephone
Co. began cdmaOne™ services in July of 1998. By April of 1999, IDO and all members of the DDI Cellular
Group were offering the service, so that now cdmaOne™ is available as a seamless nationwide service. The
combined IDO and DDI subscriber base topped 3 million users on November 23, 1999.

Beginning in the U.S., Canada, Korea and China (Hong Kong), the cdmaOne™ system is now spreading
throughout the world. As of September 1999 the global cdmaOne™ subscriber base totaled 41.14 million
users. PacketOne is a packet data transmission service based on cdmaOne™ that IDO and the DDI Cellular
Group will begin offering nationwide starting from January 7, 2000.

PacketOne will be the first commercial system in Japan to offer maximum data transmission speeds of 64kbps
to cellular and car phone users. The use of packet transmissions enables fees to be based on data volume,
rather than connection time, creating a more user-friendly mobile computing environment with high-quality
communications and excellent cost-performance.

The Intel Mobile Pentium III processor:
The Intel Mobile Pentium III processor offers the highest performance and portability for notebook
computers, taking products to the next level in mobile computing. The Pentium III was released in March of
this year as a high-performance microprocessor for the desktop computer market. The Mobile Pentium III
processor, released in October, brings performance heretofore limited to the desktop realm to the world of
notebook computers, without sacrificing portability. The Pentium III incorporates a set of 70 new commands,
or Internet Streaming SIMD extensions, for a richer Internet experience, including 3D, multimedia, and
streaming video and audio.

Joint promotion
The plan is to cooperate in promoting the Intel Mobile Pentium III processor and the PacketOne service.
Advertising in newspapers, magazines etc. will be carried out starting in or after December.

Good to hear from you..

Not much going on.. Just got back from a couple of weeks doing research in Brasil.. I am interested in the Q's investments
into Megatel down there.. Along with BCICF.. The fixed wireless market will be quite intereting down there.. I see a huge
demand for HDR deployment down in Brasil.. Cable Modems are almost non-existant and the PSTN appears unable to
support DSL.. So Megatel aka (Vesper) a consortium of (QCOM/BCICF/WLL Intl.. now Velocom, and some Argetinian
companies bought the mirror liscenses for the state of Sao Paulo, and the State which encompasses Rio, and Belo
Horizante.. The GDP of these two staes is equal to the 9th largest economy in the world.

So NT and LU have recieved contracts of approx. 1.5 billion this year to start the buildout.. They are supposed to start
services this month.. Its' CLEC business.. But the real cavet is the fact that since it is IS-95 based Fixed Wireless.. That
HDR will be deployable qutie simply.. If we believe the information that QCOM has supplied.. So you have a combined
population of approx. 50 million people and wireless as the only real answer (LMDS/or CDMA HDR)..

Also went down to check on the progress of the G* gateways..

How's things up north???

From Another Q Thread>

WHY QCOM MAY COME AROUND TO COURT INTERDIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS

Here's an PATENT update. The Patent Office Web Site shows two more CDMA patents issued to
InterDigitalCommunications symbol-> IDC.

Patent # 5,991,329 Issued 11/23/1999 to IDC
Automatic power control system for a code division multiple access (CDMA) communications system

Patent # 5,991,332 Issued 11/23/1999 to IDC
Adaptive matched filter and vector correlator for a code division multiple access (CDMA) modem

Looks like IDC patent 5,943,331 (issued Aug 24, 1999) totally circumvents the way Q's IS95A CDMA works. This
patent along with IDC's Seamless Handoff patent 5,960,347 issued (Sept 28, 1999); if possible to implement, looks like
the foundation for a totally new mobile / WLL system. I wonder if this new patent is based on IDC's BCDMA
technology and if NOKA/IDC are trying to develop it for 3G use?

IDC Patent 5,960,347 which was issued September 28, 1999 could be just the ticket to have QCOM come a courting
IDC. IDC claims that it's better than Q's CDMA soft/hard handoff.

............Also this article

A market talk chat with Jim Jubak ......found this on Yahoo Board

"CDMA was invented by qualcomm but standard is available to everyone. Yet, those who write standards have that
"Feel" of the system more better than others(can be debated, but in theory it can exist). So, they can optimize it to be
better for the entire system. (this is one of the reason, I love companies with IPR's)."

Well, CDMA was not invented by QCOM, it was developed by IDC and licensed to QCOM. (Not only did IDC
develop CDMA, but also TDMA/GSM, WCDMA,TDD,FDD, and an Omni track system, made for 3rd generation.)
Then you say those who have the "feel" of the system might be able to "work/understand/make updates" better than
others, and you are right, IDC would be the best canidate to do this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to correct you so
you buy 10 million
shares of IDC, and hopefully you wouldn't without doing your research. I'm here because I like your analysis of QCOM,
for I own a lot myself for a long time, and I am giving you another suggestion to take a look at, IDC. I feel IDC has great
potential, for exactly the reasons stated above, and many others, most people think that these big companies developed
the technology, most times they are right, and sometimes they are wrong, ex. IDC. I recommend
you take a solid look at IDC, look for the future, first I would read the post called "IceMan: IDC, why??" dated
11/30/99, some excellent research there. Then I suggest you go to www.telecomtechstocks.com , for IDC is the focus
stock at the moment, tons of great information. Good luck investing nags....SmartInvesting
