Yes, on reflection, I think you're right. This would be an excellent time for IVI to start blowing the smartcard horn, and playing up the enhanced security smart cards provide. Wouldn't it be great if this caused all those banks and merchants out there to immediately want to replace debit cards with smart cards, and all those debit card readers with smart card enabled readers? It just might happen. It's been the lead story on CBC radio all morning, and was on the front page of the Globe, and the banks are issuing cautions.
