** CMPT ** Linux news yesterday + buyout rumor by PERL = interesting speculation?

Volume many times normal. Worth watching next week. If .6 shares of PERL for each share of CMPT is true, CMPT might be a nice deal. Suggest a look at least or put on radar screen. (i.e if PERL = $20, then CMPT should = $12)

B: New Release of Red Hat Linux 6.1 Includes Computone Drivers

ATLANTA, Dec 9, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Computone Corporation
(OTCBB:CMPT) said today the new release of Red Hat(R) Linux includes
drivers for its complete IntelliPort II family of high-speed serial
communications products.

Perry Pickerign, Computone's president and CEO, said that the inclusion
of the drivers continues Computone's relationship with Red Hat
(Nasdaq:RHAT) and other Linux and open source solution vendors. He said
the inclusion of the drivers lets users install hardware, connect to
the Internet and control devices using IntelliPort products
immediately.

"The drivers in the Linux kernel are extremely reliable, and are
updated with the operating system to provide complete compatibility
with Computone products," he said. "We are glad to be part of the Linux
community and to provide an essential piece of the "Open Source"
solution. Computone has been a Linux supporter for a long time,"
Pickerign said. "Back before Linux was cool, Computone was a supporter
of the platform. In fact, we just finished a 13-city OpenLinux tour in
the U.S. and Canada as part of our alliance with Caldera(R), and last
month at COMDEX Computone announced additional support for Linux with
new software device drivers for the IntelliPort II family that have
been incorporated into the Linux kernel source code base."

"Now," said Pickerign, "Computone is proud to be included in Linux and
the Red Hat 6.1 distribution. It's great to be part of something so
monumental especially as Linux and "Open Source" gains so much outside
support. It is also great to know Computone will be part of Linux and
Red Hat promoting "Open Source" solutions now and into the future."
