Or if you put yourself in the position for a broker to even say " good morning "!

Why do they always have to take things to extremes?

As a former broker, I can attest to the stories being true. (Around the time of "Wall Street" movie that they quoted) There are a few good ones, but I imagine their #'s are much smaller now. Why?

At that time, there was a big push to be independent brokers, separate from the 'houses'. Then on-line trading started to take hold. The few good ones that I knew, we all left and started on-line trading groups. Just little people trying to maximize each others gains, no commissions. There are many other 'games' that are played, and everyone is fixated with the brokers. Well, the 'houses' love that. It focuses the attention away from them, which makes the broker 'games' look like marbles compared to the NFL.

This year was huge for us, and Q was a real nice cake with icing. Will we be able to eat it too? We'll see...

Q rocks, will it roll?

I like the description of License to Steal, Tim. I'm going to pick up a copy and try to get Voltaire to autograph it for me <g>.

My personal favorite of this genre is Liar's Poker by Michael Lewis. It's a good read, funny, irreverent, and offers some great insights into the world of bond trading. Anyone who thinks our discussions about the Houses is a form of paranoia should read Liar's Poker; they are after your money, and they aren't the least bit subtle about it.
