Oh yeah, thats right... it was version 7 that was supposed to be the Oracle killer. The 6s are pretty junky. I think the engineering staff that the Oracle 8i guys know only did the version 7 product, so its a whole new architecture.

Well hopefully SI comes up on 7 soon if they aren't there already... still, SI was fine last April which was the peak of the internet frenzy with 3x the posts here. They were probably running the same database then.

Funny... I used to hate these generic performance problems which happened about 1/3 of the time when we went live on a new application somewhere... the bugs are so elusive. But back seat driving these SI performance issues are great fun! Its wonderful offering unsolicited advice... <gg>
