Brad,

Thank You for the article. I think everyone on this thread understand the seasonality of the retail business and is prepared. I found this bit interesting though and would like to comment on it :

"Some data, however, indicate that the number of new online shoppers is only growing by 5 percent to 15 percent. For example, e-business researcher BizRate.com says just 8 percent of holiday cybershoppers were first-time online buyers"

AMZN - and all online retailers - are building habits of our new generation. IMO, the growth may be slow till a critical mass develops the habit. Its useless to try and predict when this may happen, but when my 10 year old cannot do a days homework without the PC, when she tells me the details (availability, price, location) of all kind of stuff she never knew about but now wants to buy - even for stuff which *I* want or should be buying - I know that even though Imay not be, but that *she*, and those of her generation, are true internet consumers. Then, notwithstanding our doubts about lofty valuations, we *know* that for her, and those of her generation - AMZN (and the technology) is a given. Working backwards we can only surmise that it must be happening now !!!!!! The only question is - which ones will survive....that's why everyone on this thread actively rearranges their portfolio several times a year....!!!!
