Gauthier Friday, Dec 10 1999 12:29PM ET Reply # of 24532 I sorta agree about the euphoria part, but based on my own information, it's warranted. Just here in my little corner of the world, I have taked to sun people and they have told me that 1- 5 E1000 systems sold here at my workplace, on a bid. 2- 2 E1000 systems sold to IBM , IBM of all people in Toronto canada. 3- When I mentionned the comment about the SUN runours that the quarter was already wrapped up, they said to me "It would not surprise us at all, business is very, very good" 4- storage has taken off at sun as well, and the new Netras are selling well in the CLEC's. Sun is on a roll, it's as simple as that. As for Dell, people are idiots. A Multi-Billion dollar in sales company, growing at 40% a year (on a 20 Billion Dollar base for sales in 1999), with massive profits, with a ROIC of 195% (!!!!), 40% of it's sales on the web (40 Million $/ a DAY in sales on the net), selling at a forward PE ratio of about........ 40 or so ? Idiots, all of them. Dell is THE category killer in Win PC's , soon Linux PC's, NTAP storage, PDA's & electronics in the future, Itanium & McKinley (as well as x86) SuperServers etc etc... And the stock is flat or sinking.... Totally moronic, but I guess RHAT and COREL have a better FUTURE .... HA! BTW, SUN went through the same BS when it was hated in 1997 & 1998, as Win NT "workstations" would kill SUN. Did not happen then, and Dell will rise again someday, as it's own "category killer" just like SUN did. Pls not not forget that we have a 450 Million PC replacement market already and 5.6 Billion people that do not have a PC or some such device to access the net. While PDA's will be popular, SunRay and other thin-clients will COEXIST with dedicated PC's or combo devices. <off my boat now> Take care Jean P.S. Buy SUN now, and some DELL for the future (when people wake up, could take a while)
