Dr. Michael Cowpland reports
The company has made the following appointments to its executive leadership team (ELT), effective
today.
Steven J. Houck, has been named executive vice-president of sales. Mr. Houck, 30, has been with
Corel for the past four years, most recently as a tier one original equipment manufacturer (OEM) account
manager. Mr. Houck has been responsible for managing Corel's relationships with hardware
manufacturers Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Compaq and Fountain Technologies, as well as expanding
OEM sales programs throughout the United States and Latin America.
"This is a great opportunity to lead Corel's worldwide sales force and build on our recent successes with
Linux as well as continuing the growth of our core WordPerfect and CorelDRAW brands," said Mr.
Houck. "The next year presents tremendous new opportunities for Corel in building relationships with
key players in new channels based on the Web, and applications service providers (ASPs) as well as
expanding traditional distribution and sales channels."
Ross Cammalleri, currently Corel's vice-president, marketing communications, becomes executive
vice-president of marketing. Mr. Cammalleri, 40, joined Corel earlier this year and was responsible for
leading the creative efforts around the highly successful Corel LINUX OS launch. Mr. Cammalleri came
to Corel from Cossette Communications, where he was responsible for managing a large staff and was
lead account manager for BCE, arranging for the provision of a wide range of services including direct
marketing, advertising and more. Mr. Cammalleri previously held senior positions with Academie
Ogilvy and Ogilvy Mather.
"I look forward to the tremendous opportunity to focus all of Corel's marketing and communications
resources on strengthening the company's great brands such as WordPerfect and CorelDRAW," said
Mr. Cammalleri. "Linux and the Web provide us with a wonderful opportunity to grow our current base
of 50 million users worldwide."

"Steve and Ross are tremendous assets for Corel, a super addition to our leadership team and I look
forward to working with them," said Dr. Michael Cowpland. "I am confident their talents and energy
will help Corel capitalize on great new opportunities that Linux and other new technologies are providing
us."
Mr. Houck and Mr. Cammalleri will report directly to Dr. Cowpland and lead a cohesive team of senior
sales and marketing managers responsible for the worldwide branding, awareness and sale of Corel's
products and services in a variety of channels from retail to corporate and government.
