Here's something about the KM card, even though the credit for inventing it is given to UPGD!

Emprise Rises 50% This Week, Lifted by US Upgrade Stake

Frankfurt, Dec. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Emprise Management Consulting AG, a German online business software maker, rose 18.48 percent, to 50 euros today, extending this week's gain to 50 percent as acquisitions abroad attract investors.

Emprise rose after Blaine, Washington-based Upgrade International Corp. jumped 70 percent this week, said DG Bank analyst Adrian Pehl said, who rates Emprise a ``buy.' Emprise Nov. 8 bought 600,000 shares in Upgrade at $2.5 each. They closed at $38 yesterday.

Upgrade invented a computer-chip card, which can store nearly 10 times more information than other chip-equipped cards and costs between $1 and $4 compared to $15 for similar products.

Emprise has been expanding its Internet retailing activities ahead of expected aggressive growth of that market. In September, it bought Danish computing center Internet Payment System. Last month, it bought a 22 percent stake in U.S. online retailing software maker VisualCommerce Inc.

Emprise also warned last month it probably won't meet its 1999 operating profit forecast of 3.86 million deutsche marks ($2.03 million) amid increased investment costs.
